All the details for our departure on Thursday seem to be working out well.

Thank you to all the parents who have done so much to work out the seemingly never ending details!

We have a wealth of chaperones – some traveling on the bus with us and some meeting us in NYC.  We’ll be placing our order for subs (turkey, ham, beef, or veggie) for our dinners, on Monday.  The admissions for Ellis Island and the American Museum of Natural History are paid as is Swarthout bus company.  We’ll pay for the subway once we’re there.  It’s amazing just how many details there are!!

The conflict management book presentation was very successful.  The teachers of 2nd -4th grades are waiting for our students to bring and share their books with them.  We’ll do some signing up on Monday.

Many thanks to Ed Baptist for introducing us to the world of the historian.  Did you know that all of us are historians in the fullest sense of the word.  We learned that cotton and the cotton gin were very influential in the movement of slavery westward in the United States – how they documented this movement through very hard to read documents.  We got a taste of the detective work that historians must do to answer their questions about the past.

The plays and interviews that students are working on as their final projects for the immigration unit will be shared this week – Tuesday and Wednesday.
