Today, Lillian’s dad, Ed, came into our classroom. He talked for a long time about slavery in the U.S. He’s an historian, and he had a slideshow for us with lots of drawings of slaves working and being sold. He also passed out photos of documents about a slave that was being sold. They were like deeds. The slave’s name was Sam, and he was a little older than 20. Ed told us how if he had a bunch of them for different slaves, he could use averages to learn a lot of things about slavery. Some more slides that he showed us had maps of how slavery moved over time.
