The American Story             Ned
The American Story is a book that we read every morning for read aloud. It has many different stories about America. The first story is 1565 First City and it goes all the way to 2000 The Election. We are going to read the last story tomorrow. I really like The American Story. It has lots of illustrations too. We’ve read stories about the American Revolution like, The Midnight Ride. I wonder what we will read when we finish The American Story. I think The American Story is a very good book.

Life through Time
In Life through time we are in the third time period!
In this time period frogs have taken over the world!!!!
They are everywhere! In the sea and the land! We have intersepted a message from them!

Frogman: mutant!

Mutant frog: yes sir!

Frogman: where are we in world conquest?

Mutant: good, we are in control of everything except…

Frogman: EXCEPT!!! EXCEPT WHAT! YOU… YOU… YOU FROG!!!

Mutant: w-well we are in control of e-e-everything e-e-except t-the, (to himself one two t-t-three!
WE ARE IN CONTROL OF EVERYTHING BUT THE GIANT EVIL FISH!
AND ONE IS EATING MEEEEE! FZZZZZZ FZZZ BEEEP

That’s it. But that’s not the point the point is life through time. We have fish in the aquarium! Real fish! And yes they are eating the frogs. We also have a fake shark floating in the aquarium. The terrarium has big bugs, newts, and yes more frogs. We don’t do guts anymore but we are still doing continental drift. Noah B

Daniel’s Book Review Daniel
The book I recommend is Harry Potter 5: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. In this book Harry returns to Hogwarts for his 5th year at Hogwarts but there is more trouble than you can shake a stick at! The Dementors work for Voldemort, Harry has told his aunt and uncle about the wizarding world, Harry’s cat-loving neighbor is actually a witch, Harry’s best friend Ron Weasly is the current keeper for the Gryffindor quidditch team, and the bumbling ministry of magic has assigned a evil new defense-against the dark arts teacher! With the new defense-against the dark arts teacher’s Ministry approved course of magic leaves the students of Hogwarts woefully prepared for Voldemort and his new army of Death eaters and Dementors. So Harry, taking matters into his own hands goes underground and secretly creates “Dumbledore’s army” led by him and consisting of his friends Ron and Hermione as well as Neville Longbottom, Ron’s older brothers Fred and George, Hanna Albot, Lavender Brown, Katie Bell, Susan Bones, Terry Boot, Cho Chang, Luna Lovegood, Angelina Johnson, Ginny Weasly and many more.

In D.A.R.E we are currently talking about marijuana. I have lots of facts about tobacco, tobacco is the #1 cause of lung cancer, and there are more than 200 known poisons in tobacco. I would love to tell more but I have to go to the newspaper headquarters.

PIONEERS

During pioneers we have more fates than ever! So far, each wagon train has lost more than 1 person even though we all took the safe trails. Also, we all are writing a research paper about a topic like the Donner party. We have to write at least 600 words on our research paper. Yep, that’s a lot of words. I bet you’d want to know what we did yesterday. Our wagon master’s dog got hydrophobia (rabies) and has to write a report of how to treat them. There were also deaths and accidents and you have to throw away item while crossing mountains or rivers sometimes. This is how hard it was to get to Oregon. Oh, you also encounter Native Americans. You never know if they’re nice or hostile! That’s why each group should make a smart and wise choice. There is also sometimes a scarce amount of water. We have to get a lot of points and hope that we don’t get a lot of delay points.

Soon Mystery Class 1-05-07
During mystery class, we try to find the mysterious city by reading the clues. Every Friday, we get a clue from Journey North. Then we try to figure out about where the city is. Last week we first found out the country so that it is easier to find out the city.
My first clue was “ many people have heard our country by its conventional name, but since the late 1980’s or early 1990’s our country has been also known by another name.” And I knew that the city was somewhere in Myanmar or Burma.
I wonder where the city is and I want to find it out soon.

Life through time drawing the aquarium
In Life through time we have an aquarium and a terrarium. In the aquarium we have real fish. The fish are goldfish and they are small. In the terrarium we have bugs and the bugs are not real. The bugs are different color, size and shape. We have to draw what we see in the aquarium and the terrarium. Then we have other stations. The other stations are frogs, shells, and sponges. Life through time is how life is changing over millions and billons of years. I like doing the Life through time. My favorite thing about this is drawing what do you see in the aquarium and the terrarium.

Book Review Rosie
I just finished reading Akiko and The Great Wall of Trudd. The name isn’t wonderful, but the book is really good. It’s about a girl named Akiko, who is in outer space. She is traveling with people-like creatures, named Mr.Beeba, Screeper, Gax, and Poog. In this book they climb the great wall of trudd.
Akiko and the Great Wall of Trudd Book Review Rosie

This series (The Akiko Series) is a pretty good series. I’ve only read the second book. It’s about a girl who gets a letter. Weird space people want her to go on a rescue mission to rescue Prince Froptoppit. She goes with space people named Mr. Bebba, Spukuler, Poog, and Gax. Out of ten 10 being the best, I’d rate this book a 7. That means you should read it!

Ben migrations

In migrations, which we have not done for a while, we are doing what we usually do; we are just posting new things. One of the groups has recently got an update on their animal group (I think it was hummingbirds) and it said that the hummingbirds are flying north again from the southern states for the spring and summer. Since we have not done migrations for a while the hummingbirds might be even closer to their destination. And so far that is the most exiting thing that has happened all year.
Math by Elie

In Math we are working on multiplication of fractions. We started by using boxes that we filled in so it was easier. Than we learned the shortcut you just multiply one numerator to the other numerator, the same with the denominators so 2/3*3/4 = 6/12 or ½. We’re also working on place value puzzles the things that we are trying to learn are multiplying fractions place value and adding fractions. Math has been great! Fraction Game
P.S Watch out and try to remember your homework because after break M.R Nicholson will be on the prowl.

Art Prama

This weak in art our class just about finished making our sculpture. After painting it, we added jewels. After this we are making other sculptures. I have no clue what kind of sculpture they will be. Remember, if you want your child’s name on there shirt, order Silver Graphics. We need some more paint in the art room when I was painting so maybe you could donate some.

The Giver Book Review Kwan-Yin

The Giver is my favorite book. It’s about a boy named Jonas who lives in a “perfect” world. No one makes mistakes, they all get things at a certain age, they can’t see colors, and they don’t know about pain. When the kids turn twelve, they finally get their “adult” job. Jonas is sent to the Giver as his adult job and he is very honored. Jonas now learns the pain from The Giver who gives him the memories from wars and much more. Jonas understands what life is really about. Louis Lowry wrote about what she thinks the future is going to be. It’s a sad, exciting, and fabulous book. It won the Newbery Award. This book made me think about what might happen in the future. It breaks my heart in the parts when the Giver tells his secrets and makes it full again when the happy things appear. I can’t tell you more or else I will give away the book and then it won’t be fun. It’s amazing and I can understand why it won the award. Read this book! It’s awesome.
